PETALING JAYA: The Rural Entrepreneurs Carnival (KUD) @Putrajaya 2023, to be held at the end of this month, will gather over 1,000 entrepreneurs and is targeting to attract one million visitors and generate RM10 million worth of transactions.
Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKDW) secretary-general Datuk Seri Ramlan Harun said the KUD@Putrajaya 2023 from Nov 22 to 26 at Anjung Floria, Putrajaya would include the ‘rural tourism’ component as the latest attraction.
“KKDW invites people from all over the country to attend the KUD@Putrajaya after the last time it was held in 2019. This year’s event will feature rural entrepreneurs, ranging from small-scale to global.
“The products to be featured include food, beverages, fashion, handicrafts, lifestyle and a mini showcase of Orang Asli villages,” he told reporters after the pre-launch ceremony of KUD@Putrajaya 2023 at Sri Pentas here today.
The pre-launch ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang.
KKDW, in a statement, said that the rural tourism component at KUD@Putrajaya 2023 will offer various activities, including glamping at Laman Padi while enjoying coffee from rural entrepreneurs.
There will also be a designated space for folk sports that allows visitors to participate in batu seremban, congkak and coconut bowling, as well as a virtual exhibition about Kenyir Lake boathouses and Kelah sanctuary.
Exhibitions involving support programmes for strengthening rural entrepreneurship, rural economy financing schemes and digitalisation programmes for entrepreneurs with strategic partners such as Shopee, Lazada, Tik Tok and Boost will also be held.
Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions such as UniKL, GiatMARA, Mara Poly-Tech University College, Institut Kemahiran MARA, German-Malaysian Institute and University College Agroscience Malaysia will also hold exhibitions and provide information and registration.
“A buggy service will be provided after taking into account the size of the event’s site and KKDW’s concern for the needs of the elderly, expectant mothers, children and people with disabilities,” the statement read. - Bernama
