KLUANG: The Kembara Mahkota Johor (KMJ) 2018 entered its second day today with the Sultan of Johor, Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar, taking the wheels of the ‘Blue Tiger’ locomotive of Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) from Kluang to Batu Pahat with stops at Segamat, Tangkak and Muar.

After the 98-km ride to the Segamat railway station, Sultan Ibrahim continued the KMJ journey in a British-made three-wheel Morgan car to the Batu Anam public field to meet the people.

Accompanying the sultan were the Tunku Temenggong of Johor, Tunku Idris Iskandar Sultan Ibrahim, and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Osman Sapian.

Before taking the wheels of the train, the sultan had breakfast with 10 staff of KTMB Kluang at 7.50 am.

KTMB engineer Nik Mohd Azri Nik Adnan, who has been with KTMB for over five years, said he considered himself very lucky to have met the sultan in person, adding that he will not forget the experience.

“It was a valuable moment. Tuanku conversed with us and drank some water before proceeding to the Blue Tiger,” he said.

The second day of the KMJ 2018 covers a rail distance of 305km, up to Batu Pahat.

Various programmes have been prepared for the visit of the sultan and other members of the Johor royalty, including a demonstration of cooking Indian delicacies such as ‘vadai’, ‘tosai’ and ‘puri’.

The sultan is also scheduled to attend various activities, including handing donations to orphans. — Bernama
