JOHOR BARU: The Kluang Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital (HEBHK) near here has been turned into a Covid-19 designated treatment hospital in the state since yesterday.
Johor Health and Environment Committee chairman R. Vidyananthan said the State Health Department made the decision following the increasing number of Covid-19 cases in the state.
“As at yesterday, there was an increase of 34 positive Covid-19 cases resulting in a cumulative total of 196 cases.
“Another two fatalities were reported bringing the death toll to five,“ he said in a statement today.
As such he said non-emergency cases are advised to seek treatment at clinics or other nearby hospitals.
According to Vidyananthan elective surgeries and daily treatment procedures would have to be postponed until the outpatient department and specialists clinic service are relocated at the former Kluang nursing administrative building, which is next to the old Kluang Hospital, beginning March 29.
“Clinical operations after office hours have also been postponed, while new non Covid-19 patients will no longer be accepted except for emergency maternity cases,“ he added
Vidyananthan urged the public to give their full cooperation, adding that no visitors are allowed for Covid-19 patients throughout treatment at HEBHK. - Bernama
