KUALA LUMPUR: Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today launched the Khutbah Selangor website, the e-Khutbah Selangor, which offers all text of sermons ever published by the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS).

Sultan Sharafuddin said the website compiles a collection of 23 years of sermons in both Jawi and Roman scripts, which includes sermons delivered during Friday prayers, Aidilfitri, Aidiladha, and eclipse prayers.

“The e-Khutbah Selangor website also offers a search menu for sermon texts and multimedia content in English.

“I believe that sermons are crucial as a medium for the authorities to convey the teachings of Islam accurately and responsibly.

“Sermons serve as a medium for the community to increase knowledge and understanding of the principles and implementation of Islamic teachings related to aqidah, syariah, and morals,” he said in a statement issued by the Istana Alam Shah today.

Sultan Sharafuddin said that sermons also play a role in providing the Islamic perspective on current issues and challenges, besides serving as a widespread preaching medium.

His Majesty also expressed satisfaction and pride in the quality of the sermons produced, hoping that such efforts can be continued.

“I extend my congratulations and gratitude for the work carried out by the Selangor State Sermon Committee,” he said.

Sultan Sharafuddin is confident that with the website, sermons can also serve as reading material, guidance, and a reference for scholars, teachers, students, and preachers, while at the same time, can be accessed by those who are unable to attend Friday prayers in Selangor for various reasons, including Muslim women and the general public.

The public can read the sermons at e-khutbah.jais.gov.my.–Bernama
