MAHSA University held its 19th Convocation Ceremony conferring one thousand six hundred and sixty-five students from the Faculty of Medicine, Bioscience and Nursing, Faculty of Dentistry, Faculty of Pharmacy, Faculty of Health Sciences, Faculty of Business, Finance, IT, and Hospitality, Faculty of Engineering & Built Environment, and Foundation programmes. The conferring of the awards was made by the University’s Chancellor, Tun Zaki bin Tun Azmi.
This event also celebrated the conferring of an Emeritus Professor Award to Academician Professor Dato’ Dr Khairul Anuar bin Abdullah, who is the Pro-Chancellor of the University. The title of Emeritus Professor is a highly acclaimed title deserving of great honour for it acknowledges the merits of an individual’s outstanding contributions to academics. Academician Professor Dato’ Dr Khairul Anuar showed great leadership through his years of service and was an exemplary academician and inspiring teacher through his illuminating work in research, and in his wonderful commitment to community service.
Four Posthumous Awards were given during the ceremony to honour the students of MAHSA University who had passed on between 2020 and 2021. Families of these students were present to receive the award. The University honours their contribution to society and to their fellow lecturers and friends who will miss them dearly.
The 19th Convocation Ceremony carried an added notch to its charm as this year’s ceremony included the conferring of Industry Awards to students who displayed exceptional academic and industry achievement during their course of study at MAHSA University. Companies that awarded these fourteen students from various faculties were, OCBC Bank for the Accounting Programme; TDCX, and Huddlestock Malaysia Sdn Bhd for the Business Programme; WYM Consultancy Sdn Bhd, and SCIKEY for the Pharmacy Programme; SRG Asia for the Biosciences Programme; ACH Healthcare Sdn Bhd, and Intelek Ceria for MBBS; Healthscape Sdn Bhd for the Environmental Health and Safety Programme; Bumi Healthtech Sdn Bhd for the Medical Imaging Programme; Self DRVN, and Denlite Letrik Sdn Bhd for Engineering; and 32 Clicks, and The Dental Academy for the Dental Technology Programme.
MAHSA University’s approach towards Employability and Industry Engagement is in tandem with its vision, mission, and quality policy of the University and in line with its student journey blueprint which focuses on students’ success both while on campus and as an alumnus of the University. The partnerships with the Industries are a clear sign that Universities no longer function within their own walls but with the amalgamation of both arenas. Collaborations with employer partners allow MAHSA to provide more hands-on experience to its graduates which will make them professional and industry-driven candidates, ready for the workforce upon graduation.
The weekend convocation ceremony was a carnival of sorts. With its open day held at the same time, this allowed visitors to meet with the faculties, experience the campus atmosphere and facilities, interact with employer partners and MAHSA Group of companies who offer a wide range of products and services, and indulge in the various activities and tours organised by the academic and non-academic staff of the University with the help of its very dedicated student volunteers and ambassadors.
