THE Lexus TZ has been unveiled, a fully electric luxury SUV positioned as a new flagship three-row model, the luxurious cousin of the Toyota Highlander EV.

Built around what Lexus calls the “Driving Lounge” concept, the TZ combines a lounge-like cabin environment with a fully electric powertrain and all-wheel drive system.

Design-wise, the TZ adopts a more aerodynamic and cleaner interpretation of Lexus’ spindle design language, featuring illuminated twin-L lighting signatures, flush door handles and large aero wheels measuring up to 22 inches.

In terms of size, the TZ measures 5,100 mm in length, 1,990 mm in width and 1,705 mm in height, with a 3,050 mm wheelbase. For reference, the Lexus RX measures 4,890 mm long with a 2,850 mm wheelbase.

Under the skin, the TZ uses a dual-motor Direct4 all-wheel drive system, with both front and rear motors producing 167 kW (227 PS) and 268.6 Nm each. Total system output is rated at 300 kW (around 408 PS), enabling a claimed 0–100 km/h time of 5.4 seconds.

Power comes from a 95.8 kWh lithium-ion battery delivering a claimed driving range of up to 530 km. Charging supports up to 150 kW DC fast charging, with a 10 to 80% charge taking around 35 minutes. The TZ also comes with a 22 kW onboard AC charger.

The 6-seater electric SUV also introduces technologies such as Dynamic Rear Steering, Interactive Manual Drive with simulated gear shifts, regenerative braking adjustment via paddle shifters, and Lexus’ latest Safety System+ suite.

Inside, the TZ adopts a six-seat layout with second-row captain chairs and a third row designed to comfortably accommodate adults. Lexus says the absence of a fuel tank and floor-mounted battery packaging allows for improved space efficiency throughout the cabin.

The cabin also features Lexus’ new Responsive Hidden Switch design, where controls remain hidden within trim surfaces until approached by the user’s hand. A panoramic roof extending across all three rows is also fitted.

Other features include an available 21-speaker Mark Levinson audio system, ambient lighting integrated into bamboo trim panels, heated and ventilated seats, ottoman leg rests, and a new Rear Comfort drive mode aimed at minimising body movement for rear passengers.

The Lexus TZ is scheduled to launch in the US end of this year, Europe in 2027.
