Body of man found floating in Sungai Perak

Body of a 45-year-old man discovered in Sungai Perak near Kuala Kangsar, with fire and rescue teams retrieving the victim from the river.

IPOH: The body of a 45-year-old man was found floating in Sungai Perak near the Seberang Manong Jetty on Jalan Sultan Iskandar Shah near Kuala Kangsar today.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said the department received an emergency call from members of the public at 12.47 pm.

According to Sabarodzi, a team from the Kuala Kangsar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was deployed to the scene to carry out an operation to retrieve the victim from the river.

“Upon arrival at the location, the operations commander found the victim still in the water beside a boat near the riverbank.

“The police were also already at the scene when the firemen arrived,” he said in a statement today.

He said the firemen then entered the river to bring the victim to the riverbank before he was confirmed dead by medics at the scene.

The body was handed over to the police for further action.
