Decomposed body found wrapped in canvas at Pulau Angsa

A decomposed male body was discovered wrapped in canvas and tied with rope at Pulau Angsa, with police confirming death by strangulation and launching a murder investigation.

SHAH ALAM: The decomposed body of a man wrapped in canvas was discovered among rocks along the shoreline at Pulau Angsa in Jeram, Kuala Selangor.

Kuala Selangor district police chief Supt Azaharudin Tajudin stated that an angler alerted authorities after finding a suspicious package emitting a foul odour while fishing at the location around 4.50 pm.

A police forensics team subsequently confirmed the package contained a decomposed body that had been wrapped in canvas and secured with rope.

The remains were transported to the UiTM Puncak Alam forensics hospital for an autopsy, which was conducted to determine the cause of death.

Azaharudin confirmed the autopsy revealed the victim died as a result of strangulation, though his identity has not yet been established.

Police are now investigating the case under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist the investigation by contacting the nearest police station.

The public can also reach the investigating officer, ASP Khairol Hiysham Shamsudin, directly at 03-3289 1222.
