The husband of actress Nadia Kesuma appeals for immediate government action after she vanished while transiting at Jeddah’s international airport.
KEPALA BATAS: The husband of actress Nadia Kesuma has appealed to the Malaysian government for urgent diplomatic intervention to locate his wife, who disappeared while transiting at an airport in Saudi Arabia.
Prof Dr Muhammad Kamarul Kabilan Abdullah said time is critical and direct government involvement could expedite the search for his wife, who went missing at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah on Thursday.
“I only want her to return home safely, and every minute means a great deal to us,” he told reporters at his home in Taman Bertam Putra.
“If the minister or the government is directly involved, the process can be expedited.”
He said a report has been lodged with Wisma Putra, and the Malaysian Consulate General in Jeddah is working with Saudi authorities.
Muhammad Kamarul said his wife, whose real name is Nadiah Kasumawati Abdul Karim, was part of an Umrah-London-Paris travel package with 21 other pilgrims.
She departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport early Tuesday and last communicated after arriving in Jeddah around 4 am local time.
The travel agency later informed him she did not board her connecting flight to London.
“I started to worry when my calls and messages went unanswered, even though her phone was still active,” he said.
Location tracking indicated her phone was still within the airport, but authorities believe she exited the terminal without the device.
He expressed surprise, noting she never travels without her phone and that neither of her checked-in bags was collected.
Muhammad Kamarul said he is prepared to travel to Jeddah if needed but is currently awaiting updates from the consulate.
He described the situation as very unusual, stating Nadia always informed her family of her movements, especially their three children aged 11, 13 and 15.
Nadia also has a 25-year-old daughter from a previous marriage.
