The government will clarify IPTA entry pathways for tahfiz and UEC students, with a media briefing scheduled for next week.
PUTRAJAYA: The government will soon clarify the entry requirements to public universities for graduates from education streams outside the national system.
MADANI Government Spokesperson Fahmi Fadzil said Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim instructed the education and higher education ministries to examine the matter during today’s Cabinet meeting.
Fahmi said the directive followed public feedback calling for clearer pathways to public university admission, particularly for students from tahfiz schools and Unified Examination Certificate holders.

“This will be followed by a statement from MOE and KPT,” said the Communications Minister at a press conference.
He added that both ministries would hold a media briefing next week to provide more detailed information.
Fahmi also said the Prime Minister instructed the education and works ministries to review infrastructure preparedness for an anticipated student enrolment increase.
This follows the decision to allow children to enter preschool at age five and Year One at age six from 2027.
Preparations include constructing new classrooms and recruiting additional teachers.
Teachers will also need to be supplied through the Teacher Education Institute if student numbers rise.
Fahmi noted requests from institutions like tahfiz schools for teachers to prepare students for SPM Bahasa Melayu and History subjects.
Last Tuesday, the Prime Minister launched the National Education Blueprint for 2026–2035.
Key initiatives include implementing preschool entry at age five and Year One at age six from 2027, subject to student and parent readiness.
New centrally administered learning assessments will be introduced for Year Four students starting in 2026 and for Form Three students from 2027.
To strengthen national identity, students in all schools will be required to study Bahasa Melayu and History according to the National Curriculum. – Bernama
