Kelantan roads clogged as holidaymakers return home

Heavy traffic builds on Kelantan’s federal roads as outstation travellers begin their journeys home after the Aidilfitri festive break.

KUALA KRAI: Traffic is building up on several federal roads in Kelantan as outstation travellers begin returning home after the Aidilfitri holidays.

A check along key routes, including Jalan Pasir Puteh–Kuala Terengganu and Jalan Machang–Kuala Krai–Gua Musang, found traffic moving slowly due to an increase in vehicles.

Road user Rosmaliza Adnan said she left Kota Bharu heading to Kuala Lumpur but had to stop for a rest near Kuala Krai due to fatigue from the long journey.

“I usually return a day or two earlier after the festive break so I can rest upon reaching home and avoid long traffic jams,” she told Bernama.

Gua Musang police chief Supt Sik Choon Foo said personnel have been deployed for patrols and monitoring along major routes following the expected traffic increase.

“Early preparations and planning have been carried out, especially along main exit routes from Kelantan,” he said.

He added that traffic control measures will be implemented based on current conditions to ensure smoother journeys for all motorists.

Travellers are advised to follow instructions from personnel on duty and to plan their journeys carefully to help ease congestion.
