Preparations complete for Negeri Sembilan state assembly opening with Tuanku Muhriz to deliver royal address amid ongoing Undang dispute
SEREMBAN: Preparations for the opening of the First Meeting of the Fourth Session of the 15th Negeri Sembilan State Assembly are proceeding smoothly ahead of the ceremony tomorrow, which will be attended by the Yang Dipertuan Besar, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir.
State secretary Datuk Mohd Zafir Ibrahim said Tuanku Muhriz is also scheduled to deliver a royal address at 10 am to mark the opening of the session.
Also expected to attend is the Tunku Ampuan Besar, Tuanku Aishah Rohani Almarhum Tengku Besar Mahmud.
“The opening ceremony and assembly sitting will proceed as usual,” Mohd Zafir told reporters at Wisma Negeri.
Before the opening ceremony commences, Tuanku Muhriz is set to receive a royal salute and inspect a guard of honour comprising three officers and 103 personnel from the 14th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment from the Syed Sirajuddin Camp located in Gemas.
Typically, the ceremony will also be attended by the Tunku Besar Tampin and the four Undang (ruling chieftains) from Sungei Ujong, Jelebu, Johol and Rembau, but their presence this time remains uncertain following a recent dispute in the state.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun reportedly said that the unprecedented move by the four Undang, led by Datuk Mubarak Dohak of Sungei Ujong, to depose Tuanku Muhriz as the state ruler last Sunday, cannot be accepted and is not recognised.
He said this is because Mubarak no longer holds any authority or function as the Undang for Sungei Ujong following his dismissal in May 2025, and such action is inconsistent with Articles 10 to 12 of the Negeri Sembilan Constitution 1959.
