All four Malaysian swimmers failed to reach the finals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, while para swimmer Ethan Khoo advanced to the S14 final
GLASGOW: The national swim team endured a disappointing outing at the 2026 Commonwealth Games after all four swimmers failed to advance beyond the heats at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre here, today.
Khiew Hoe Yean came closest to reaching the men’s 400 metre (m) freestyle final after finishing 10th overall out of 27 swimmers with a time of 3 minutes 54.23 seconds (s), far behind his personal best of 3:47.38s which is also the national record.
Compatriot Tan Khai Xin placed 14th overall in the same event after clocking 3:57.54s.
Meanwhile, Arvin Shaun Singh Chahal and Lim Yin Chuen failed to qualify for the men’s 50m freestyle semi-final after both swimmers ranked joint 28th overall out of 68 swimmers, with Yin Chuen finishing with a time of 23.82s and Arvin with a time of 23.85s.
Yesterday, the team of four swimmers finished seventh in the men’s 4x100m freestyle relay final with a time of 3:24.32.
Meanwhile, para swimmer Ethan Khoo advanced to the men’s 200m freestyle S14 final after finishing fifth in the heats with a time of 2:05.11.
He is scheduled to compete in the final tonight (early Sunday morning Malaysian time).
