Public service director-general visits retired civil servants in Kota Kinabalu, delivering basic necessities and confirming upcoming pension adjustments.
KOTA KINABALU: Public Service director-general Tan Sri Wan Ahmad Dahlan Abdul Aziz (pic) visited retired civil servants and their families to deliver basic necessities.
The initiative is a mark of the government’s appreciation for their past services and sacrifices.
He first visited the family of the late Awang Muhamad Karim, a former senior financial administrative assistant who passed away in November.
The visit was to the family’s home at Taman Sempelang in Sembulan.
He then visited Farida Mubin, a former general worker from the Sabah State Education Department who retired last September.
Farida is suffering from diabetes and vision problems due to damaged eye lenses.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan said the outreach proves the government has never sidelined retirees.
“The government is very concerned about those who have contributed to the nation,” he told reporters.
He added that the slogan that no one is left behind is clearly reflected in the current initiatives.
The aid focused on basic necessities as the recipients’ health conditions were stable.
He noted that bedridden retirees would typically receive medical equipment like adjustable beds.
Wan Ahmad Dahlan also confirmed government retirees will enjoy pension adjustments soon.
The adjustments are in line with Phase 2 of the Public Service Remuneration System beginning on 22 January.
“This shows that not only those currently in service receive their due rewards,” he said.
He stated that retirees also benefit from the concern shown by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
