The fifth STAR meeting focuses on immediate action, integrated cost of living measures, and AI-driven public service efficiency.

PUTRAJAYA: The fifth meeting of Special Task Force on Agency Reform (STAR) today emphasised immediate action and high-impact solutions in addressing the people’s issues and strengthening the efficiency of public service delivery.

The meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary to the Government Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, also focused on more integrated measures to address the challenges of the cost of living and employment through a more targeted and effective approach.

According to a statement by the Special Task Force on Agency Reform (STAR), the main focus is to ensure that the implementation of government initiatives can help reduce the pressure on the people’s cost of living, expand job opportunities and improve household well-being.

The meeting also reviewed the implementation of the Cakna MADANI Small Project which focuses on immediate solutions to the basic needs of local communities.

“This approach allows small-scale projects to be implemented more quickly and have a direct impact on the people in areas in need,” according to the statement.

In an effort to strengthen the people’s understanding of the aspirations of a MADANI Malaysia, the implementation of the MADANI Malaysia Appreciation Plan was also given attention through a clearer, more structured and closer to the people communication approach.

In addition, the meeting was also informed about measures to strengthen the involvement of local think tanks and experts in supporting the formulation of national policies that are more evidence-based, practical and result-oriented.

This approach is expected to increase the effectiveness of policy implementation and strengthen strategic cooperation between the government, industry and stakeholders.

Meanwhile, to improve the efficiency of public service delivery, the meeting also paid attention to the implementation of the Paperless Government initiative which is expected to speed up administrative affairs, reduce the use of physical documents and increase the efficiency of government work processes in a more sustainable and responsive manner.

The meeting was also informed about the status of the implementation of the government’s strategic actions in ensuring that the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be translated into increased productivity and effectiveness in the delivery of public services as a whole.

According to the statement, the whole-of-government approach implemented focuses on coordinating efforts across agencies to accelerate the benefits of AI use to the people, businesses and the country.

“Overall, STAR Meeting Number 5 of 2026 reaffirms the government’s continued commitment to strengthening the delivery of more efficient, responsive and people-focused public services through the implementation of swift, coordinated and high-impact actions”.
