KUALA TERENGGANU: Terengganu has completed 851 temporary relief centres in preparation for the upcoming Northeast Monsoon season.

The centres have a combined capacity to accommodate approximately 214,392 flood victims across the state.

Terengganu Disaster Committee deputy chairman Datuk Hanafiah Mat confirmed all centres are fully equipped and ready for immediate activation.

“All the PPS are fully equipped and can be opened as soon as flood evacuation begins,” he said after the state assembly sitting at Wisma Darul Iman.

The Terengganu Irrigation and Drainage Department has cleaned and maintained approximately 1,200 kilometres of drainage systems throughout the state.

This comprehensive maintenance includes clearing rivers, streams, and canals to ensure smooth water flow during heavy rainfall.
