Tun Ramli, wife visit Bayan Lepas Ramadan Bazaar

Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife visited the Bayan Lepas Ramadan bazaar, mingling with traders and buying traditional kuih and nasi dalca.

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Governor Tun Ramli Ngah Talib and his wife, Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin Raja Abdullah, today visited the Bayan Lepas Ramadan Bazaar here, drawing smiles from traders and shoppers as they exchanged greetings.

Upon their arrival at 4.35 pm, the couple were received by Barat Daya district deputy police chief Supt Nermaljit Singh Bakhtawar Singh.

Tun Ramli and his wife spent about an hour mingling with visitors and traders at the bazaar, while also stopping by several stalls to buy breaking of fast delicacies.

Among the traditional kuih they selected were onde-onde, kaswi, lopes and tepung pelita, besides visiting stalls offering tauhu begedil and laksa.

Tun Ramli and Toh Puan Raja Noora Ashikin were also seen queuing alongside other visitors to purchase nasi dalca with ayam bawang before leaving for Seri Mutiara.

Their presence also caught the attention of young visitors, many of whom approached the couple to shake hands and take photographs.

Featuring some 150 stalls, the bazaar is among the island’s popular Ramadan hotspots, offering a diverse array of iftar food from traditional favourites to contemporary dishes.
