DAP ready for early general election, says chairman

DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo confirms party’s readiness for GE16, using Sabah state election as benchmark for upcoming national polls.

KUALA LUMPUR: DAP is prepared to face the 16th General Election even if called earlier than expected, according to party chairman Gobind Singh Deo.

“When the Prime Minister decides the time is right and calls for an election, we in DAP will be ready,” he told reporters after officiating the Kuala Lumpur Federal Territory DAP 2025 Annual Convention.

The current MADANI Government coalition holds a mandate lasting until 2027.

Gobind noted the ongoing 17th Sabah State Election would serve as a benchmark for Pakatan Harapan ahead of GE16.

Earlier in his speech, he urged all party members to maintain unity and continue working toward victory.

“We must remain steadfast in the foundations of our struggle and move forward for the sake of a brighter and more glorious Malaysia for all!” he declared. – Bernama
