Hundreds in white as Hamzah plots next move at closed-door meet

Hamzah is expected to hold a closed-door briefing on the party’s direction and what has been described as a political reset.

KUALA LUMPUR: Bersatu leaders and MPs, accompanied by hundreds of supporters dressed in white, have begun arriving at a “political reset” meeting amid mounting speculation over the political future of Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin.

The meeting is being held at the University of Malaya Alumni Association (PAUM) Club House here.

Masjid Tanah MP Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin, who is also Bersatu Srikandi chief, was among the earliest to arrive.

“I choose to be here,” she said briefly when approached.

Hamzah is expected to hold a closed-door briefing on the party’s direction and what has been described as a political reset.

According to media reports, the session involves several MPs, division heads and state assemblymen.

As of press time, more leaders had arrived, including Bersatu vice president and Beluran MP Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee and Lumut MP Nordin Ahmad Ismail.

Bersatu Port Dickson division chief Badrul Hisham Shaharin, better known as Chegubard, was also seen at the venue.

Hundreds of supporters remain gathered outside.

Hamzah was sacked yesterday, triggering what insiders describe as a domino effect within the party, with several members aligned with him also reportedly dismissed.

In a statement yesterday, the party said the Larut MP’s membership was terminated under Clause 22.5 of the Bersatu Constitution for violating Clause 9.1.4.
