PKR’s national congress is set for Melaka from June 25-28, with the party leadership also announcing new political bureau and leadership council appointments
KUALA LUMPUR: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) national congress will be held over four days in Melaka from June 25 to 28.
The decision was made by the party’s central leadership council (MPP) during its monthly meeting.
PKR communications chief Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said detailed information would be released by the party headquarters soon.
The MPP also appointed several members as Ex Officio members of the PKR Political Bureau.
The appointees are Datuk Seri Dr Zaliha Mustafa, Akmal Nasrullah Mohd Nasir, Mohammed Taufiq Johari, Datuk Dr Mohamad Abdul Hamid and Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz.
Meanwhile, Datuk Jamawi Ja’afar, Datuk Ruji Ubi and Datuk Yamani Hafez Musa were appointed as Ex Officio members of the MPP.
Fahmi said the council also reviewed the implementation of the MADANI Government’s new initiatives.
These include the National Education Plan, a comprehensive effort to ensure better education quality and prepare youth for an increasingly challenging digital world.
He said people’s aid programmes could also be improved to ensure cost of living issues are addressed thoroughly.
Programmes cited include Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA), Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR), Jualan Rahmah and Bantuan Awal Persekolahan (BAP).
“Measures to combat corruption and cartel groups are also supported, so that public funds are not misappropriated to enrich certain groups,” he said.
