A new West Coast Expressway section with a temporary U-turn will open before Aidilfitri to ease congestion between Klang Valley towns.
KUALA LUMPUR: A key section of the West Coast Expressway at the Federal Highway interchange will be opened to motorists before Aidilfitri.
WCE Holdings Bhd’s general manager of strategic communications and stakeholder management, Syed Mohammed Idid, said the opening of Section 4 is expected to be officiated by Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi.
He explained that a temporary U-turn facility will be introduced along the newly completed Section 4 to allow motorists entering from the Federal Highway to reverse direction.
“This temporary U-turn will allow motorists from Petaling Jaya, Subang, Shah Alam and Klang to enjoy some congestion relief and smoother, faster travel,” he told Bernama at an event here.
The temporary arrangement is designed to ease traffic flow in surrounding areas while construction continues on the connecting Section 3.
Once Section 3 is fully completed, which is expected by year-end, the temporary U-turn on Section 4 will be closed.
The 233-kilometre expressway links Banting in Selangor to Taiping in Perak, with the entire Perak alignment already operational.
In Selangor, several interchanges are currently open, including those at Assam Jawa, Kapar, and Banting, as well as Section 2 which connects to the South Klang Valley Expressway.
