Strong 6.9-magnitude earthquake hits Sulawesi

KUALA LUMPUR: A strong 6.9-magnitude earthquake struck Sulawesi, Indonesia, at 11.27 am today.

Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the quake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometres, with its epicentre located 41 kilometres southeast of Palu.

MetMalaysia’s initial assessment found no tsunami threat to Malaysia.
