Iran strike on Bahrain aluminium plant injures two workers

An Iranian attack on a major aluminium plant in Bahrain wounded two employees, as regional tensions escalate amid the ongoing Middle East conflict.

MANAMA: Two employees were wounded in an Iranian attack on facilities belonging to Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) over the weekend.

Bahrain’s state media reported the incident on Sunday, citing a company statement carried by the official Bahrain News Agency.

“The safety and security of (Aluminium Bahrain’s) people remain its top priority and the Company confirms that two of Alba’s employees sustained minor injuries,” the statement said.

It did not provide details on the nature of Saturday’s strike or the extent of the damage to the plant.

Alba, one of the world’s largest aluminium producers, said it was assessing the impact on its operations and would issue further updates when available.

Bahraini authorities have not yet released additional information on the incident.

Since the Middle East war erupted at the end of February, Bahrain and other Gulf countries have been regularly targeted by Iranian missile and drone strikes.

These attacks are in retaliation for the ongoing US-Israeli campaign, which is now in its second month.
