Malaysian duo Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai win maiden World Tour title, defeating compatriots Chia Weijie-Lwi Sheng Hao in India final
LUCKNO: World junior champions Kang Khai Xing-Aaron Tai captured their first World Tour title with victory at the Syed Modi India International.
The Malaysian pair defeated compatriots Chia Weijie-Lwi Sheng Hao in an all-Malaysian final at the Babu Banarasi Das U.P. Badminton Academy.
The sixth-seeded duo stunned their third-seeded opponents 21-9, 21-19 in just 32 minutes.
This marks their second title of the season following last month’s Malaysia Super 100 triumph.
World number 57 Khai Xing-Aaron extended their head-to-head lead over the world number 45 pairing.
They had previously beaten Weijie-Sheng Hao 21-18, 21-7 in the Malaysia Super 100 final.
Khai Xing-Aaron claimed the winner’s prize of USD 18,760 (approximately RM78,352).
Runners-up Weijie-Sheng Hao earned USD 9,120 (approximately RM37,688). – Bernama
