PBMM announces two candidates for FAM elections, with president vying for vice-president 1 and deputy for executive committee.

THE Malaysian Malays Football Association (PBMM) officially announced two of its candidates for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) elections scheduled to be held during the 2nd FAM Congress 2026 on Sept 17.

The association said its president Mohd Firdaus Mohamed will contest the Vice-President 1 post while its deputy president, Datuk Ramlan Askolani will vie for a FAM executive committee member post.

“The candidacy of both leaders reflects PBMM’s readiness to continue to contribute constructively to the FAM leadership and improve Malaysia’s football development through good governance, sustainable grassroots development and close cooperation between all affiliates,” the association said in a statement today, as it urged all its affiliates, especially associations that are FAM affiliate members, including the Royal Malaysia Police Football Association and the Malaysian Armed Forces Football Association, to consider the candidacy of both leaders through the FAM’s election process.

It also urged them to hold courtesy calls or meeting sessions with the president and state football association leaders to introduce the vision, aspirations and commitments of both candidates ahead of the FAM Congress.

Meanwhile, Mohd Firdaus said his candidacy was not merely to represent PBMM, but to serve the entire football fraternity.

“FAM needs leaders that always listens, respects and works with all affiliates… and I believe that every affiliate has an important role in shaping the future of the country’s football,” he said, and stressed that he would improve relations between FAM and affiliates, expand grassroots development, improve domestic competition and ensure the country’s football administration is strengthened.

He also urged all FAM affiliates to make the FAM Congress a platform that strengthens unity and to elect leaders capable of bringing change and raise the competitiveness of Malaysia’s football.
