Batik Air launches direct Tashkent-Langkawi flight route

Batik Air’s new direct flight connects Tashkent to Langkawi starting Dec 14, 2025, opening Central Asia to Malaysia’s island paradise

LANGKAWI is poised to welcome a new wave of Central Asian travellers as Batik Air launches its inaugural direct flight service connecting Tashkent, Uzbekistan to Malaysia’s premier island destination. The groundbreaking route, commencing December 14, 2025, marks a significant milestone in strengthening tourism ties between Central Asia and Southeast Asia.

Six-Hour Gateway to Paradise

The new direct connection eliminates the need for layovers and lengthy connections, reducing total travel time to just six hours. This seamless journey transforms Langkawi’s world-renowned beaches, ancient rainforests, and island adventures into an accessible reality for Uzbek travellers seeking their next tropical getaway.

“This route represents more than just a new flight path—it’s a bridge between cultures and a gateway to unforgettable experiences,” said a representative from the Langkawi Development Authority (LADA). The initiative demonstrates the power of strategic collaboration, bringing together LADA, Tourism Malaysia, and Batik Air in a unified effort to elevate Langkawi’s presence in emerging global markets.

Building Bridges Through Business Engagement

To support the launch and maximize its potential, LADA is orchestrating a comprehensive business-to-business engagement tour in Uzbekistan. The mission will visit Tashkent on November 22 and Samarkand on November 24, 2025, bringing together tourism industry stakeholders from both nations.

The delegation includes sixteen Langkawi-based tourism businesses ready to forge partnerships with their Uzbek counterparts. With an anticipated attendance of approximately 130 travel agents in Tashkent and 50 in Samarkand, these sessions aim to co-create tailored travel packages and generate strong interest in Langkawi among Central Asian travellers.

These engagements serve as a crucial foundation for the route’s success, establishing relationships that will help Uzbek travellers discover and experience all that Langkawi has to offer.

Malaysia’s Island Jewel: A Destination Like No Other

Known affectionately as the “Jewel of Kedah,” Langkawi is a tropical archipelago comprising 99 islands, each offering its own unique charm. The destination perfectly balances natural splendour with modern comfort, featuring turquoise seas, powder-soft white sand beaches, and lush rainforests that have captivated visitors from around the world.

Natural Wonders and Ancient Heritage

What sets Langkawi apart is its extraordinary geological heritage. The island boasts a 550-million-year-old landscape, offering travellers the rare opportunity to explore ancient rock formations and UNESCO-recognized geoparks. These protected sites transform every visit into an educational journey through Earth’s ancient history.

The archipelago is home to world-class beach resorts that blend seamlessly with the island’s natural environment. Visitors are welcomed with authentic Malaysian hospitality, where warmth and genuine care create memorable experiences for families, couples, and groups of friends alike.

Duty-Free Shopping Paradise

Beyond its natural attractions, Langkawi holds special status as a duty-free island. This designation invites visitors to enjoy exceptional shopping experiences with unbeatable prices across a diverse range of international and local brands. From chocolates and cosmetics to electronics and fashion, the shopping opportunities add another dimension to the island experience.

Adventure Meets Serenity

Langkawi caters to every type of traveller. Adventure seekers can explore jungle canopy walks, island-hopping excursions, water sports, and wildlife encounters. Those seeking relaxation will find tranquil beaches, luxury spa treatments, and sunset cruises that provide the perfect escape from daily life.

The island’s rich biodiversity extends beyond its beaches. Pristine rainforests teem with unique flora and fauna, while surrounding waters offer world-class diving and snorkelling opportunities. Cultural experiences, from traditional fishing villages to local cuisine, provide authentic insights into Malaysian island life.

Naturally Langkawi: Opening Doors to the World

The Tashkent-Langkawi route aligns perfectly with the “Naturally Langkawi” initiative, which focuses on showcasing the island’s rich biodiversity, cultural warmth, and natural wonders to international audiences. This new connection represents a strategic expansion of Langkawi’s global reach, particularly targeting the growing Central Asian travel market.

By establishing direct connectivity with Uzbekistan, Langkawi positions itself as an accessible, attractive destination for a new demographic of international travellers. The route demonstrates confidence in the island’s ability to deliver experiences that resonate with diverse cultural preferences and travel expectations.

Ready for Discovery

Uzbek travellers can now book their seats on Batik Air’s new direct service and be among the first to experience Langkawi’s unmatched beauty and hospitality. The route’s launch in mid-December positions it perfectly for winter holiday travel, when many seek to escape colder climates for tropical warmth.

The flight schedule will accommodate both leisure and business travellers, providing flexibility and convenience for various travel needs. As the route establishes itself, additional services and enhanced connectivity may follow, further strengthening the bond between these two nations.
