LISA Bonet has officially initiated the process of divorcing Jason Momoa, marking a significant development two years after the public announcement of their separation.
The couple, who exchanged vows on Oct 7, 2017, publicly disclosed their decision to part ways in a joint statement issued in January 2022.
Recent court documents obtained by People reveal that Bonet has filed for a dissolution of their marriage, specifying the date of their separation as Oct 7, 2020 and citing irreconcilable differences as grounds for the divorce.
The 56-year-old actress and the 44-year-old Aquaman star are parents to two children, 16-year-old daughter Lola and 15-year-old son Nakoa-Wolf.
Notably, Bonet is also the mother of actress Zoe Kravitz, from her previous marriage to rock star Lenny Kravitz.
In her divorce filing, Bonet has requested joint custody of their children and has opted for no spousal support to be granted to either party.
Their initial separation announcement two years ago was accompanied by a statement in which Bonet and Momoa expressed an understanding of the transformative times they were navigating, emphasising their commitment to navigate the changes with dignity and honesty.
The couple clarified that their decision to share the news was not driven by a desire for media attention but rather by an intention to approach their lives with authenticity.
Bonet and Momoa conveyed that despite the conclusion of their marital relationship, the love between them endures, evolving in ways that seek acknowledgment and expression.
They stressed the liberation they felt to embrace their true selves and emphasised their unwavering devotion to their shared role as parents, imparting valuable life lessons to their children.
