Experience age-old Chinese customs through Project Kwai Chai Hong’s Moonlight in the City happening from now until Sept 15.
Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as Mooncake Festival or Lantern Festival, is typically celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar when the moon is at its fullest and brightest. The festival officially falls on Sept 13 this year.
In the spirit of togetherness, Bai Chuan Management is throwing workshops focused on arts and culture, such as paper-cutting, travel photography, snowskin mooncake making, recycled lantern making, and storytelling and sing-alongs.
On top of that, visitors can expect to try their hands at Chang’E shadow puppet making, mosaic art, traditional bookbinding with gold embossing, and goldfish tabao neon-light art.
Meanwhile, the grand finale night on Sept 15 will see singer-songwriter Shin Kay perform with her live band to end the festivities on a high note.
The historic laneway parallel to Jalan Petaling will also be decked in colourful lanterns and a stunning 10-foot glowing moon. You can find the entrance to Kwai Chai Hong located along Lorong Panggung.
