A married woman has expressed her frustrations seeing her parents-in-law financially drain her husband due to their unwise expenditures.
The young woman has noticed that her in-laws constantly demand her husband for money despite having substantial funds, with her father-in-law’s retirement allowance of RM6,000 combined with an extra RM1,500 sent by their other children, totaling up to RM7,500.
Previously, her father-in-law received a gratuity of RM500,000 after his retirement but it was gone after more than a year, leaving the in-laws with only RM7,500 to lean on to pay their bills.
“They have RM7,500 to cover their expenses without any other pressing financial commitments,” the woman said in a Facebook post.
Despite the sufficient amount of funds in their hands, the in-laws, residing in Kedah, still face “money troubles” and continuously call up their son for extra cash, and her husband obliges since he tries his best fulfilling the role of a dutiful child, according to her.
“We have three children aged two, three and nine. Living in Kuala Lumpur poses a challenge as well. After deducting our salary to pay our commitments, we are left with only RM4,000.
“My husband pays RM1,800 monthly for his car. My in-laws purchased an expensive car but my husband is paying for it, on top of giving them RM500 every month.
“But that is still not enough for them and they keep asking for more money,” she said.
The in-laws’ incessant demands of money have made it impossible for the married couple to maintain their savings.
“My mother-in-law always calls my husband asking for money, even during his work meetings,” she added.
What makes it worse is that her husband turns to her for money and also borrowed money from one of his friends after his funds have been depleted due to fulfilling her in-laws’ requests for money, just to avoid touching their childrens’ savings.
“This is not the first time he has asked me for money – but I pity him as he is also stressed out everytime his mother calls asking for money so many times. But he does not have the heart to say no,” she lamented.
In the end, she also expressed her sentiments regarding the issue and has grown to “hate” her parents-in-law.
“I have told my parents-in-law that my salary is finished already, I will help my husband with the other expenses. We are struggling (financially) to survive but they do not understand just keep on asking for money,” she concluded in her post.
