Out of gas: Competitors in farting competition fail the basics

INDIAN singer Yatin Sangoi (pix) had a groundbreaking idea after he farted in a cinema. He decided to organise India’s first-ever farting competition.

“I farted in the middle of watching a movie with my family and one of them laughed, I said if there was a contest I would’ve won,” Sangoi said to Vice magazine.

“That’s when it hit me, while fart contests happen in countries like China, US and UK, we don’t have anything like it in India.”

The competition called ‘WTF - What The Fart’ seeks out the “loudest, longest and most musical” farts was held last week in Surat.

Sangoi even gave budding ‘fartists’ a tip. He recommended eating beans, raw radishes and boiled potatoes to help produce the loudest farts.

Unfortunately, only 20 out of the 60 names signed turned up for the competition. To make matters worse, only three dared to go on stage.

The trouble didn’t end there. The three who was brave enough to go on stage couldn’t even let out a single gas. Looks like they didn’t heed Sangoi’s tips.

Sangoi, who was obviously disappointed, attributed the shyness of the participants to the low turnout and the “presence of news channels, photographers and people.”
