HBO, in association with Warner Bros Television, has roped in Francesca Gardiner as showrunner and executive producer and Mark Mylod as executive producer and director of multiple episodes of the upcoming Harry Potter original series.

The new series, currently in development, will be available on HBO Max’s expanding global footprint.

The series will be a faithful adaptation of the Harry Potter book series by author and executive producer J.K. Rowling.

It will feature a new cast to lead a new generation of fandom with characters from the franchise that fans have loved for over 25 years.

Each season will feature Harry Potter and his incredible adventures to new audiences around the world while the original films will remain at the core of the franchise and are available to watch globally.

Gardiner has previously worked on season four of Killing Eve as a co-executive producer and was a writer for seasons two and three of His Dark Materials.

Meanwhile, Mylod has directed multiple episodes of hit shows, Game of Thrones, The Last of Us and Successions, in which Gardiner was also involved in.

The series is produced by Rowling, Neil Blair and Bronte Film and TV’s Ruth Kenley-Letts and Heyday Films’ David Heyman.
