The National Unity Ministry allocates RM55.5 million for Perpaduan childcare centres and kindergartens in 2026, supporting over 34,000 children nationwide

PUTRAJAYA: Perpaduan childcare centres and kindergartens have been allocated RM55.5 million for the 2026 school session.

National Unity Minister Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang announced the funding, stating it underscores the MADANI Government’s commitment to early childhood education.

The allocation aims to support students and ease the financial burden on parents.

It includes RM24.39 million for Supplementary Food Assistance and RM20 million for facility upgrades.

A further RM3.5 million is for a Per Capita Grant, while RM2.29 million covers starter kits like uniforms and backpacks.

Funding also includes RM1.93 million for teaching equipment and RM359,640 for insurance coverage.

Aaron said the allocation will enhance teacher professionalism and early education service quality.

On the first day of the 2026 session, 33,307 children enrolled in 1,781 Tabika Perpaduan nationwide.

A further 998 children are registered at 41 Taska Perpaduan centres.

Aaron stressed that these government-owned centres provide free early education services without any fees.

“Tabika Perpaduan will also implement the new Preschool Curriculum starting this year,” he said.

The curriculum emphasises instilling unity, respect and love from an early age.

It aligns with the ministry’s focus on nation-building and developing a generation with a strong patriotic spirit.

Special modules like the Rukun Negara will be aligned with the new curriculum.

Third-language programmes in Tamil, Mandarin, Iban and Kadazan will also be implemented.
