Bridgerton season 4 launches in Paris, promising a ‘Cinderella with a twist’ story of class struggle and forbidden love, premiering on Netflix January 29
PARIS: The promoters of ‘Bridgerton’ chose Paris to launch the fourth series of the hit show. The latest instalment promises to be “Cinderella with a twist”, according to star Yerin Ha.
Several hundred fans gathered outside the Palais Brongniart in central Paris for the premiere. The venue was decorated in the show’s colours with a walkway styled like an English garden.
The new season revolves around the Bridgerton family’s second son, Benedict, played by Luke Thompson. He falls for the mysterious Sophie Baek, unaware she is a servant.
“I’d say it’s a bit of Cinderella with a twist, and it’s not quite Cinderella,” said Australian-Korean actress Yerin Ha, who plays Baek. “It’s a class struggle, forbidden love story.”
Releasing on Netflix on January 29, the season tackles themes including class relations, rape, disability, and post-menopausal sexuality. Baek’s cruel stepmother is played by Harry Potter star Katie Leung.
According to Netflix, ‘Bridgerton’ has consistently ranked among the platform’s most popular content since 2020. It is adapted from the novels by American writer Julia Quinn.
Fans can look forward to seasons five and six, which have already been confirmed.
