Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea, Tottenham and Barcelona secure Champions League last 16 spots, while PSG and Real Madrid face play-offs
FIVE English clubs have qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League after the final round of league phase matches.
Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham secured a top-eight finish on Wednesday, joining Arsenal and Bayern Munich who had already progressed.
Barcelona and Sporting Lisbon also booked their direct passage to the knockout stage.
Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain must go through the knockout play-offs again.
Record 15-time winners Real Madrid will join them after a 4-2 defeat at Benfica.
Madrid could face Benfica again in the play-offs, with the draw to be made on Friday.
Newcastle, the sixth English team in the competition, also go into the play-offs.
They will meet either Monaco or Qarabag next month.
