Johor Darul Ta’zim extend Super League lead with a 5-0 win, while Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim scores to earn Selangor a 1-1 draw against Terengganu
KUALA LUMPUR: Super League leaders Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) extended their winning streak with a 5-0 demolition of Imigresen FC (IFC) at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium in Iskandar Puteri, last night.
Joao Figueiredo opened the scoring for the Southern Tigers in the 21st minute.
An own goal by Imigresen defender Milani Bueno doubled JDT’s lead in the 59th minute.
Bergson Da Silva scored JDT’s third goal just a minute later.
Marcos Guilherme added a fourth in the 66th minute before Da Silva completed the rout with a fifth in injury time.
The victory gives JDT 48 points from 16 matches, putting them 16 points clear at the top of the table.
Meanwhile, Mohamad Faisal Abdul Halim saved Selangor FC from defeat with a crucial equaliser against Terengganu FC (TFC) at Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin Stadium in Kuala Nerus.
Terengganu had taken the lead through captain Raianderson Da Costa in the 43rd minute.
Faisal Halim scored Selangor’s solitary goal to level the match in the 58th minute.
TFC failed to capitalise on their numerical advantage after Selangor’s Hugo Boumous was shown a red card in the 72nd minute.
The match ended 1-1, with Selangor escaping with a point.
Terengganu FC remains fifth in the league standings with 25 points.
