The new prices make these vehicles more attractive:

Model 3 Rear-Wheel Drive: RM181,000 (from RM189,000)

Model 3 Long Range AWD: RM210,000 (from RM218,000)

Model Y Rear-Wheel Drive: RM191,000 (from RM199,000)

Model Y Long Range AWD: RM238,000 (from RM246,000)

Moreover, this move comes amidst a booming global EV market, but also as Tesla faces increased competition from rivals like BYD.

The price reduction could be a strategic response to gain a foothold in the rapidly growing Malaysian EV market.

Additionally, Tesla has implemented similar price cuts in major markets like China and the US, suggesting a global strategy to stimulate demand in the face of economic pressures and intensifying competition.

In China, Tesla aims to maintain its position against aggressive local EV manufacturers, while in the US, the price cuts likely offset the reduction of federal EV subsidies.
