Real Madrid draw Man City again in Champions League last 16

Real Madrid and Manchester City will meet for a fifth straight season in the Champions League knockout stages, while PSG face Chelsea in the last 16.

REAL Madrid and Manchester City will meet for a fifth consecutive season in the UEFA Champions League knockout stages after being drawn together in the last 16.

The Spanish giants will host the first leg at the Santiago Bernabeu next month before travelling to England for the return.

City won 2-1 in Madrid during the league phase in December, finishing eighth to advance directly while ninth-placed Real came through the play-offs.

This marks the eighth season the clubs have faced each other since 2012.

Reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain were drawn to play Chelsea, with the first leg in Paris.

PSG qualified via the play-offs while Chelsea progressed directly after finishing sixth in the league phase.

Their last meeting was July’s Club World Cup final, which Chelsea won 3-0.

Chelsea have been coached since January by Liam Rosenior, who previously faced PSG while managing Strasbourg.

Arsenal, who topped the league phase, will face Bayer Leverkusen.

Newcastle United were drawn against Barcelona, having lost 2-1 to them at St James’ Park in September.

Tottenham Hotspur will play Atletico Madrid, with the winners facing Newcastle or Barcelona in the quarter-finals.

Liverpool have a last-16 rematch against Galatasaray, who beat them 1-0 in the league phase.

The winner of that tie will play either PSG or Chelsea in the last eight.

German champions Bayern Munich will play Atalanta, the only Italian club remaining.

The first legs are scheduled for March 10 and 11, with the second legs a week later.

Teams that qualified directly for this stage will be at home in the return matches.

This season’s final will be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on May 30.
