EC reports 3,334 nomination forms sold for Sabah’s 73-seat state election, with 1.78 million voters eligible to cast ballots on November 29.
KOTA KINABALU: The Election Commission has sold 3,334 nomination forms for Sabah’s 17th state election as of yesterday.
EC data shows 2,414 forms were sold through the Sabah State Election Office while 920 were sold through returning officers’ offices.
Nomination day for the 73-seat election will occur tomorrow with early voting scheduled for November 25.
Polling day is set for November 29 across the state.
The commission reported 1,784,843 registered voters are eligible to participate in the election.
This includes 1,760,417 ordinary voters alongside 11,697 military personnel and spouses.
Another 12,729 police personnel and their spouses are also registered to vote.
PKR has announced 10 candidates while DAP will field seven, all contesting under the Pakatan Harapan banner.
Barisan Nasional will contest 45 seats through its component parties UMNO, MCA and Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah.
Gabungan Rakyat Sabah plans to contest 55 seats with candidates from five component parties.
Parti Warisan, Parti Perpaduan Rakyat Sabah and Parti Impian Sabah each aim to contest all 73 seats.
Perikatan Nasional will compete for 41 seats while Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat each target 40 seats.
Parti Kerjasama Anak Negeri will field 26 candidates and Sabah Progressive Party will contest six seats.
Seventeen independent candidates under the ‘Gelombang Hitam’ movement will also participate in the election. – Bernama
