Police arrest a sixth suspect in Singapore for the Southkey murder, bringing total arrests to six as investigation continues.
JOHOR BAHRU: Police have arrested another suspect in connection with the murder of a man in Southkey on March 14.
The sixth suspect, a 30-year-old foreign man, was detained in Singapore this morning through cooperation between Malaysian and Singaporean authorities.
Johor deputy police chief DCP Hoo Chuan Huat said a remand application for the suspect will be made tomorrow.
He confirmed that five individuals, comprising four men and a woman, had been arrested earlier in the case.
The remand for the first suspect has been extended until March 31.
Applications for remand extension will also be made for the other four suspects whose detention periods end tomorrow.
Hoo said the motive for the murder is still under investigation.
Police will provide further updates once the probe is completed, he added.
Earlier reports stated five suspects, aged between 24 and 33, were believed to have fled to Singapore.
The first suspect was detained at immigration while attempting to enter Singapore on March 18.
Four more suspects were detained with Singapore police assistance the following day.
In the March 14 incident, a 32-year-old foreign man was attacked with sharp weapons at 5 am.
The victim was stabbed in the neck by several individuals and later confirmed dead at Sultan Ismail Hospital.
