Alex Marquez wins final MotoGP sprint of season in Valencia

Alex Marquez dominates Valencia MotoGP sprint, his third sprint win of 2025 season, beating Pedro Acosta and Fabio Di Giannantonio

ALEX MARQUEZ claimed a dominant victory in the final MotoGP sprint of the season on Saturday.

The Ducati-Gresini rider secured his third sprint triumph of 2025 at the Valencia circuit.

Marquez finished 1.149 seconds ahead of KTM’s Pedro Acosta, with Fabio Di Giannantonio taking third place.

Starting from second on the grid behind Marco Bezzecchi, Marquez took the lead at turn one and maintained it throughout the race.

Acosta moved into second position at turn two, while Bezzecchi eventually finished fifth.

Despite his disappointing sprint result, Bezzecchi secured third place in the championship standings.

This achievement gave Aprilia their first top-three finish in the championship.

Two-time MotoGP champion Francesco Bagnaia continued his recent struggles, finishing 14th in the sprint.

Bagnaia dropped to fifth in the championship standings behind Acosta.

Marquez expressed his determination to complete a weekend double by winning Sunday’s Grand Prix.

“It’s one of those goals that is there but has never quite come together,” he told DAZN.

The Spanish rider acknowledged stronger competitors but described his sprint performance as “an almost perfect race.”

Jorge Martin, the 2024 championship winner, finished last in 22nd place on his comeback from a September collarbone fracture.

Last year’s Valencia event was cancelled due to deadly flooding in the region. – AFP
