Security guard held for alleged sexual abuse of animal in Shah Alam

33-year-old remanded five days after alleged cat abuse incident at Kota Kemuning apartment complex

SHAH ALAM: Authorities have apprehended a security guard following allegations of severe animal cruelty at a residential building in Kota Kemuning.

Acting Shah Alam district police chief Superintendent Ramsay Embol confirmed the arrest of a 33-year-old Nepalese national who works as security personnel at the apartment complex where the alleged incident occurred.

According to New Straits Times, the case came to police attention after a resident lodged a report at 12.30am on Saturday. According to the complainant, she and her husband witnessed a disturbing scene upon returning home to their apartment.

While still seated in their vehicle, the couple observed a man allegedly committing sexual acts against a cat within the apartment building premises.

“The complainant’s husband proceeded to the fourth floor to confront the individual. However, upon being approached, the suspect immediately threw the cat from the building before fleeing the scene,” Superintendent Ramsay stated.

The complainant managed to capture video evidence of the incident on her mobile device, which has been submitted to investigators.

Law enforcement officers moved quickly to identify and locate the suspect. The arrest was made at 4.45am on the same day, just hours after the initial report was filed.

The suspect has been placed under a five-day remand order from November 15 to November 19 to facilitate police investigations. Authorities believe the individual was intoxicated during the alleged incident.

The case is being investigated under multiple sections of Malaysian law, reflecting the serious nature of the allegations.

Under Section 377 of the Penal Code, which addresses carnal intercourse against the order of nature with animals, convicted offenders face imprisonment of up to 20 years. The court may also impose fines or whipping as additional penalties.

Additionally, investigators are examining potential charges under Section 428 of the Penal Code for committing mischief against animals. This offence carries a maximum sentence of three years imprisonment, a fine, or both punishments.

Police confirmed that the cat involved in the incident could not be located at the scene following the alleged abuse and fall from the fourth floor. The animal’s condition and whereabouts remain unknown.

The height of a fall from the fourth floor presents serious survival concerns for any animal, though cats have been known to survive significant falls in some circumstances.

Superintendent Ramsay has urged members of the public who may have witnessed the incident or possess relevant information to come forward and assist with the ongoing investigation.

Individuals with pertinent details are encouraged to contact the investigating officer, Inspector Mohamad Zulkifli Mohamad, at 011-1695 8529.
