Royal Malaysian Navy rescues 28 people in two separate operations, including nine from Pulau Jarak and 19 from capsized boat, with one fatality confirmed.

IPOH: The Royal Malaysian Navy rescued 28 people in two separate operations amid severe weather conditions, with one fatality confirmed.

Nine civilians stranded on Pulau Jarak were successfully evacuated after being trapped by heavy rain and landslides.

A Super Lynx helicopter conducted the emergency evacuation, airlifting all victims without serious injuries.

Separately, 19 people were rescued from a capsized boat in waters off Pulau Perak following a search and rescue operation.

The KD Ledang vessel located all victims at 10.15 pm yesterday, with one individual confirmed deceased.

Survivors received initial medical treatment from RMN personnel before being transported to shore.

The navy reminded the maritime community to exercise greater caution during current rough sea conditions.

Boat operators should ensure vessels are in good condition and comply with weather warnings.

Sea conditions in the Straits of Melaka are particularly hazardous at this time.
