The IYC2025 concluded with a CoopWalk in Kuala Lumpur, celebrating cooperative unity and community development with regional participation
KUALA LUMPUR: The International Year of Cooperatives 2025 (IYC2025) concluded today with a CoopWalk event attracting over 1,500 participants.
The walk, organised by the National Cooperative Movement Berhad (ANGKASA), began at Dataran Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur and ended at the Kuala Lumpur Forest Eco Park.
Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Khairul Dzaimee Daud officiated the closing ceremony.
He stated the CoopWalk symbolised the collective journey of the cooperative movement in improving lives and contributing to national development.
Khairul Dzaimee also thanked ANGKASA for its commitment to the success of IYC2025 through various impactful programmes.
The event was attended by ANGKASA and ASEAN Co-operative Organisation president Datuk Seri Dr Abdul Fattah Abdullah.
Representatives from eight ASEAN cooperatives, including the Philippines and Indonesia, also participated, showcasing regional solidarity.
Abdul Fattah said the walk demonstrated the movement’s ability to unite communities through positive social programmes.
He added that IYC2025 was reinforced through strategic initiatives like the ASEAN Cooperative Dialogue 2025.
The CoopWalk also paid tribute to the late Royal Professor Ungku Abdul Aziz, who initiated the KOPJOG walking event in the 1980s.
The closing ceremony reaffirmed ANGKASA’s resolve to sustain momentum in unity, innovation, and community development. – Bernama
