Rembau body in bag murder probe nears completion

Police finalise investigation into woman’s body found in bag in Rembau, with suspect taken to scene as case heads to Attorney-General’s Chambers.

SEREMBAN: Police investigations into the discovery of a woman’s body inside a bag in Rembau are almost complete.

Negeri Sembilan Deputy Police Chief SAC Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the main suspect, aged 51, was taken to the house last night to complete evidence for the case.

He said no further arrests have been made so far. Investigations are being finalised before the case is referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for prosecution.

“Yesterday, the main suspect was brought to the location where the body was found as part of procedures to complete the investigation, but no items were seized,” he told reporters.

Muhammad Idzam said police would proceed with prosecution based on the suspect’s statement. This is despite DNA results for the body taking about three months to process.

The body was found inside a bag buried behind an unoccupied house in Kampung Batu 4, Pedas last Thursday.

Police detained two men, aged 51 and 41, to assist in investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

The woman’s identity has yet to be confirmed due to the decomposed condition of the body. It is believed she had been deceased for more than three days.

Investigations indicate the woman was killed at a house in Ampang, Selangor. Her body was then placed in a bag and buried at the village location.

It was reported that the woman had been strangled following an argument with the 51-year-old suspect at the victim’s house.
