Negeri Sembilan FC coach urges team to maintain positive momentum

NSFC head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil says the team must sustain its character and discipline to build on a stronger Super League first round.

NEGERI Sembilan FC (NSFC) must maintain its current character and discipline to sustain positive momentum in the Super League’s second round, says head coach Mohd Nidzam Jamil.

He said the squad’s improved performance should be viewed as progress compared to last season.

NSFC currently sits sixth in the standings, a marked improvement from being among the bottom teams at the same stage last year.

“Our challenge is not really other teams, it is ourselves,” Mohd Nidzam told reporters after a match last night.

“We want to be better than last year.”

He acknowledged that some are unhappy with the team’s ongoing rebuilding phase.

“Building means we must be better than before,” he added.

Mohd Nidzam highlighted finishing the first round in sixth place with a better goal tally as key achievements.

The coach spoke following NSFC’s 2-0 victory over Kelantan The Real Warriors (TRW) FC.

Striker Luqman Hakim Shamsudin scored both goals in the 36th and 49th minutes.

The win places NSFC sixth with 17 points, while Kelantan TRW are 10th with 11 points.

Kelantan TRW assistant head coach Akmal Rizal Ahmad Rakhli expressed dissatisfaction with recent results.

He admitted the team’s performance has improved since he took over but results have not followed.

“I hope the players realise the situation,” Akmal Rizal said.

“Many changes need to be made and I hope they do not become too comfortable.”

He believed his team possessed the same quality as NSFC and should not have lost the match.

“Our weakness is the attacking unit, which is unable to produce goals,” he concluded.
