CUSTOMERS are often being charged higher prices for ordering on food delivery apps compared to directly through the takeaway outlet, café or restaurant.
It doesn’t help that prices of raw materials have increased which means an increase in food prices— but would you ever pay RM30 for three pieces of meat?
Just recently, a clearly frustrated customer posted on her the “Setapak Sharing and Exchange Area (Setapak 文良港分享交流区)” Facebook group, page about her experience of paying RM29.90 for a bak kut teh through a delivery app and to her dismay, discovered three little pieces of pork in it.
The picture of the bak kut teh showed three meagre pieces of pork, barely enough to feed a child let alone a grown adult.
She also posted a picture of her receipt, which after a substantial discount, she paid a final price of RM25.05. The receipt, as shared by the customer, showed an order of RM25.90 for dry Bak Kut Teh and RM29.90 for Bak Kut Teh soup.
She added that the dish reminded her of “leftovers from another customer” and requested the vendor to be more considerate to their customers.
