An HR praised a candidate who added the whole company on LinkedIn before an interview — but netizens weren’t impressed and called it over the top.
AN HR professional recently shared a viral post highlighting a candidate’s remarkable effort during the hiring process — and netizens can’t stop talking about it.
“I had one candidate, and we called him for an interview. This is what he did. Pre-interview: he added everyone in the company on LinkedIn to learn everyone’s position.
“During the interview: he brought a notebook and jotted down all the questions he would like to ask, and whatever information he could gain from the interview.
“Post interview: he immediately sent a thank you email, and followed up the week after.
“Yes, he gets the job. I saw the determination within him. I learned a lot,” she wrote on Threads.
The post quickly gained traction online, with many praising the candidate’s professionalism and initiative.
“Yesssss! I tell everyone to do your research. Come with 3-5 team specific questions you have based on your research. Send that thank you email. Show the interviewer you are interested before you even get in the interview room,” simply.a.denise opined.
“Yes I did all three everytime attending an interview. Can confirm this is very effective,” theashlana echoed.
However, not everyone agreed — some felt they would still get ghosted by HR regardless, while others felt the candidate’s actions were merely for show and meant to impress.
“We all did this, not one of us were hired. The recruiter ghosted us,” one user called xoxelfxox shared.
“As an interviewer, I couldn’t care less about this kind of “efforts”. I focus on things related to the job. This is the hallmark of ‘kaki bodek’,” ahh541967 wrote.
