218i Gran Coupe M Sport is here

BMW Malaysia yesterday introduced its first ever four-door coupe in the compact premium segment.

The locally-assembled 218i Gran Coupe M Sport (pix) – powered by a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine – is the first-ever compact BMW coupe to utilise a transverse engine placement.

With a maximum output of 140hp and a peak torque of 220Nm, this new BMW 218i Gran Coupe M Sport can make the century sprint in 8.7 seconds. Top speed is 213km/h.

Power is transmitted via a seven-speed Steptronic double-clutch transmission. Similar to the new BMW 1 Series, the 218i Gran Coupe M Sport is also designed with the BMW front-wheel-drive (FWD) architecture – combining class-leading driving dynamics with a significantly increased amount of cabin space.

The suspension, damping and steering have also been tuned for sportier performance in the new Gran Coupe.

Exterior colours available are Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Snapper Rock Blue, Storm Bay, and Melbourne Red.

The interior features black Leather Dakota upholstery with blue and black highlights.

The 218i Gran Coupe M Sport, already available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide, sells for RM211,367 (on the road, without insurance, with sales tax exemption).
