Scout leaders in the Asia-Pacific region are urged to strengthen unity and governance to drive a new three-year strategy focused on growth and youth empowerment.
KUALA LUMPUR: Scout leaders in the Asia-Pacific region have been urged to strengthen unity and uphold good governance to implement a new strategic direction.
Asia-Pacific Regional Scout Committee chairman Mej Gen Prof Datuk Dr Mohd Zin Bidin said the newly elected leadership must work cohesively to drive Scouting’s development across the region.
He said this at the Asia-Pacific Scout Committee and Sub-Committee Induction Training in Subang Jaya.
“The post-pandemic environment demands a more mature and responsive leadership approach that remains focused on the needs of young people,” he said.
Mohd Zin outlined seven strategic priorities to guide the region’s work over the next three years.
These include strengthening growth through wider outreach and enhancing leadership training.
Modernising youth programmes to incorporate environment, STEM, and humanitarian skills is also a key focus.
He said empowering young people in decision-making must remain a central priority.
“Governance must be enhanced to strengthen the confidence of partners and donors,” he added.
He stated that safety, diversity and inclusion must be expanded as non-negotiable priorities.
Building organisational capacity in areas like training and disaster preparedness was also highlighted.
Mohd Zin emphasised the need to strengthen the region’s identity and influence in global Scouting.
He called for stronger collaboration across all committees and subcommittees.
“Each of you was chosen not because you were simply available, but because you have the capability and passion to serve,” he told the leaders.
He urged them to carry their mandate with courage and responsibility.
