Malaysian rapper Namewee claims trial to possessing methamphetamine and Sildenafil at a Kuala Lumpur hotel, with bail maintained at RM2,000.
KUALA LUMPUR: Rapper Wee Meng Chee, known professionally as Namewee, pleaded not guilty to a new charge of possessing a prescription medication without authorisation.
The 43-year-old was accused of possessing 0.78 grammes of Sildenafil, a drug for erectile dysfunction, at a hotel on Jalan Conlay on October 22, 2025.
He also claimed trial to an amended charge of possessing 1.57 grammes of methamphetamine at the same location and time.
The Sildenafil charge falls under Section 9(1) of the Poisons Act 1952, carrying a potential fine of up to RM50,000, five years’ jail, or both.
The methamphetamine charge is under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, with a maximum penalty of RM100,000, five years’ imprisonment, or both.
Magistrate Atiqah Mohamed @ Mohamad Saim set March 5 for case mention and maintained the accused’s existing RM2,000 bail.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nurainizatul Farhana Zainal prosecuted, while lawyer Joshua Tay represented Namewee.
The rapper was previously acquitted of a drug self-administration charge on December 22 last year after the prosecution withdrew it.
